Visa application questions

My 18-year old daughter will visit this summer; she will visit friends in Chengdu for 1 week; attend a Chinese language school for 2 weeks in Kunming; and then travel to Taipei for one week (total travel time = approx. 28 days). My daughter was adopted from China when she was 5 months old; she was given a Chinese name which we changed upon her adoption.

I am preparing her application and have some questions:

question 1.3 - Do I have to somehow write down my daughter's original Chinese name in characters?
Question 1.4 - Do I put her Chinese name here?
Question 1.5 - Does anything go here?
Question 2.4 - Does this mean the total number of days she intends to be over there, or the longest single stay at any one of her destinations (which would the language school in Kunming)?
Questions 2.8 and 2.9 - I assume this would be the language school, or would this be her friends, or both, or neither?

2. I note that we need to send an "invitation letter issued by a tourism unit" - I assume this would be the language school for part of my daughter's trip, but does she need anything from her friends? Visiting them will take up about half of her trip. And we will have no hotel reservations to send for this portion of her trip - will that be a problem?

3. We can send copies of her plane reservations roundtrip; however, since she will be stopping in Taipei on the way home, do we need to provide proof of her airfare from Kunming to Taipei and be done with it, and we should provide proof of flight from Taipei to the U.S. also?

Thank you so much for any assistance!

For question 1.4, you can write down her Chinese name if you know it. I think she has a birth certificate under that Chinese name, right? You can write N/A to the question 1.3 if she does not use the name any more, and N/A to the 1.5 as well.
The question 2.4 means the longest stay after a single entry. For her visit, a single entry L is enough, so it should be about 30 days.
For question 2.8 &2.9, if she has already got an invitation letter from the language school, that is enough. You can put again N/A to the item 2.9. But please note with this letter, the correct visa type for her should be "a single entry Business F". However, if she has invitation letter from her friends, she is still eligible for a single entry L for visit.

My suggestion: if she will stay with her friend without booking hotels, L is better, so invitation letter from her friend is required, as well as copies of their Chinese ID. Otherwise, hotel reservation are required. Flight ticket to mainalnd, and ticket leaving from mainland to Taipei are enough for application.

Thank you so much for your answers to my complicated questions! I have a better understanding of the application, and think I may have been "overthinking" things because I don't want the paperwork to be rejected. Thanks again - Pam
