About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240hr-10day Visa Question

Aloha,
I was wondering if we qualify for the 240-hour Visa Free Entry. Our trip is planned in June.
We leave Honolulu, Hawaii (USA) with a layover in Haneda (Japan) (1:30hrs) to Shanghai. We will be staying for 7-days. Then we leave Shanghai to Osaka (Japan) for 8-days then fly back to Honolulu, Hawaii (USA). Thanks for helping.

Thanks, Ryan

Unfortunately, your itinerary is not eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. The basic rule/condition of 240 hour visa free transit requires that the immediate points before and after mainland China are located in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). As you can see, your both immediate points are located in just one country - Japan. If you proceed with your travel plans you will have to obtain a Chinese tourist visa in advance. Alternatively, if you can you can insert some other country/territory. For example:

US - Japan - mainland China - Taiwan - Japan - US

I hope it helps.
