About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Application for a NZ passport holder but an Australian citizen

I don't own an Aussie passport, I was told by the chinese consulate I had to get an Aussie visa before they would process my application. I rang immigration & they said they won't give me one because I don't need one as I am a citizen. Who is right here. I was told to apply for a SC444.

Hi, you can provide both the original and the copy of entry record(stamp) for application. Please confirm this again with the consulate or CVASC. I am sorry I have no idea what the SC444 is.

Thanks Amy for the reply. I have lived here for more than 35yrs and did not need a passport when I originally came. I have had several passports since then so am not able to show an entry date due to no longer having them. I have emailed a copy of my citizen ship certificate, and also tried to explain in the email that I can't get a Aussie visa.

Yvonne. You say you are an Aussie citizen. That being the case, go to your local post office and apply for an Australian Passport which you will receive for the requisite dollar amount.

The authorities couldn't care less if you have an NZ Passport, and the Chinese authorities probably won't care either as you will be an Australian passport holder for application.

Then you need nothing more to apply for any.

Hope that helps.

Hi Spinner, thanks for your reply, I had a chinese one 3yrs ago and never had any problems using my NZ passport, I only have 5wks before we travel and should not need to get an Aussie PP to get one. I have not heard back from the embassy since sending them my Aussie citizenship certificate. I'm hoping they are just going to go ahead & process my application.
