About:Beijing Capital Airport T3

can i claim my bag, go to a different terminal, wait for family arriving later, then go to customs?

I am arriving at Beijing from the US, at terminal 3. Is it possible to get my bag at baggage claim and then go to terminal 2 and wait for my family's arrival later that day. Then go through customs and leave together?

I am afraid that you need to go through the customs first, then you can go to T1 to wait for them.
