Question

I will be visiting in April and would like to know best mode of transport from point-to-point. Can you please advice on the following:- Kunming to Dali. Express Bus (duration) or Fast Rail (duration). Where to buy tickets. Dali to Lijang. Express Bus (duration) or Fast Rail (duration). Where to buy tickets. Lijang to Shangri-la. Express Bus (duration) or Fast Rail (duration). Where to buy tickets. Shangri-la to Kunming. Fast Rail (duration) or flight. Where to buy tickets.

You can take a train from Kunming to Dali at Kunming railway station, from Dali to Lijiang at Dali railway station. Since there is no railway station in Shangri-La, you can take an express bus from Lijiang to Shangri-La, which will cost you about 4 hrs. And from Shangri-La to Kunming, express bus is also ok.
