About:Top 8 Reasons Why Your China Visa Gets Rejected

Shanghai Layover

I am very confused by conflicting information on the internet regarding the need for a visa in china.

My partner and I (both AUS citizens) have a 14hr layover at Shanghai before continuing onto San Francisco the next day.

I understand that we do not need a VISA if staying within the airport:

However would we need a VISA if:
1-Staying at the on campus Shanghai Airport Hotel

or

2- Venturing into the City and Staying there

Any advice would be great! Cheers :)

Hi, if you fly from Australia to the US via Shanghai, you don't need a visa. And just show your valid passport, visa of your destination country and connecting flight ticket, and you are allowed to go out of the airport for maximum 72h.
