About:China Transit Visa

Layover in China, but I doesn't have a visa for my destination country in hand

I just bought a flight from Tokyo (HND) to Shanghai (SHA) to Kuming (KMG) to Kathmandu, Nepal (KMD). Most people buy their Nepal visa in the KMD airport so I will not have it in hand in China. Is that a problem? Or can I transit China without a transit visa? Thanks you!!!
