About:Chinese Embassy in Belgium

type of visa for my family to China.

I'm a Belgian teacher who is invited as visiting fellow (teacher exchange programme) to a university in China. My family (Husband and three children) will join me to live in China.
After my fellowship at the university, we will travel through China for 5 weeks. In total, we will stay in China from 2 april till 13 August.
What type of visa do I need?
What type of it do my husband and children need?
We will only travel in China.
Many Thanks!

You need to apply for a business visa F with invitation letter from Chinese university. Your family can apply for F as well accompanying yours, so in the invitation letter, their names should be included. After fellowship, you can convert/extend your F to L for one more month.

So we don't need a visa notification? An invitation from the university will do?
We can change our visum from F to L in China? Also for more than a month because we'll stay untill 13 August?

Visa notification and invitation letter are generally the same thing, one of them will be enough for your application. Extension in China is possible, so don't worry. Or you can just ask for the invitation letter with duration of stay including one more month for travel. No one will check if you travel on F or L.
