About:Chunyun - Spring Festival Travel Rush in China

Can I board the train with my ID and my reservation confirmation?

Do I have to pick up the tickets at the station after my relative has reserved online for me? or Can I board with my ID and my reservation confirmation?

You had better collect the paper tickets since it seems that passengers can use only the 2nd - generation ID card to take high speed rail of Beijing/Shanghai and Shanghai/ Hangzhouand so on.
