China's new 72-hour visa-free policy from 1 january 2013

I've read that from 1 January 2013 China has introduced a new 72-hour visa-free policy for travellers to Beijing. Is there a similar policy for Australian travellers to Shanghai? We are on a cruise from Hong Kong to Shanghai and in Shanghai for 2 days then leave for Australia.

Hi, both Shanghai and Bejing adopt this new policy. But it applies to directly transit by international filight only. If you visit by cruise, you have to apply for a visa in advance.
