how many days i need to get the residence permit done from the police station

hello i got the x visa for studying in a university,so with in how many days from entering into china  i need to get the residence permit done from the police station,what if i dont like the university can i return back to my country after  30 days visit without getting the residence permit done  in police station ,can you clarify me all these ,as i am confused in case if i dont like the university .thank you

You have to apply for the residence permit within 30 days of your entry.  If you plan to go back home after the registration in the university, you'd better get the residence permit first, or you will be not able to enter China again. It usually takes about one week to get it.

hello Evan thank you for the reply but in case if i dont like the university and dont want to study can i just visit for 30 days and go back to my country without doing residence permit in police station  ?Will there be any problem ?As far as i know for 30 days no need to go to police for residence permit  is that true ?

I think your way will do, but you'd better make an agreement about this with the school beforehand.
