if we plan to visit hangzhou by our own without tour, are the attractions accessible by MRT?

Only West Lake Culture Square can be reached by MRT line1.
Actually, it is not suggested to take MRT to travel in that city. Local bus system is developed, which can take you to many local places. For instance, Bus Y7 can take you to reach many places around West Lake.0
