About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Transit visa for US passport

Dear Sir, We are travelling to New Delhi thru Shanghai on China Eastern, we have a 20 hr halt, do we need a transit visa from your LA office or can we get it in Shanghai, What are the Fees for US Passport holders. We are a Family of 3 Adults. Thanks Krishna

Hi, I m sorry for late reply. Here is a new policy released recently, from Jan. 1st 2013, flight passengers from 45 countries (including USA) are exempted from visa to transit in Beijing and Shanghai and allowed a stay of up to 72 hours. Anyway, for a stopover of 20 hours, visa is not required.
