If visa required for visit from Canada to China

I have heard people who have both HK SAR passport and Home Visit Re-entry Permit have entered China direct
from Canada (not via Hong Kong) without a visa. But I don't know what airlines they used.
Does anybody know what airlines do require it regardless types of passports ?

Sorry, I can not find out the airlines, but you'd better not show your Canadian Passport when you board the plane.
