leave early for xiamen to shanghaiback the same day possible?

my wife and i will have three full days in xiamen. im thinking of spending our second day in shanghai. is it possible to leave xiamen early in the morning, take a glimpse of shanghai, and be back in xiamen the same day? if yes, by what means of transportation (other than plane) are we taking? if say by train, how many hours will a one-way xiamen-shanghai take? thank you so much.

If you take the plane, it may be possible, otherwise, it is impossible.There is bullet train, but it will take you about almost nine hours from Xiamen to Shanghai one way. So if you want to take a glimpse, the plane is the best way.
