is there a new rule for student x visa application as in new documents needed!

Question

Last year i got a F visa and wasn't asked to produce a letter of duly authorized unit and this year some friends of mine are being asked to produce. My question is since there has been no updates in the embassy website are there new rules for 2012 for X visa as i will iteding to get one this month!

For student visa application, Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China are required.  A letter of duly authorized unit may refer to the Admission Notice from university, with approval of related Chinese foreign affairs Office.
