About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

Hong Kong citizen visiting Seoul Korea

Aloha,

I am a Hong Kong citizen holding both Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and a British National Overseas (BNO) passports. I am also a US resident holding a green card. Of course I also hold a permanent Hong Kong ID card. I am currently visiting Seoul Korea. (1) Do I need a visa to visit China (2) or do I need a Home Return Permit to visit China (3) Can I apply for a visa or a Home Return Permit in Seoul? How long does it take? Do I apply via Travel agencies or go to Embassy or Consulate?

1. yes, you do need a visa to enter mainland China.
2. You have HK permanent ID card, so I think you may also apply for a Home Return Permit.
3. since July 1, 2010 for non-Korean applicants in South Korea who want to apply for visas to China must provide the alien registration card in South Korea with at least 6 months remaining validity. Maybe it is easier and requires less documents for you to apply for a Home Return Permit. Anyway, you may contact any of the authorized travel agency by the China Embassy in South Korea to know about the exact details.
The list of the authorized travel agencies can be got at http://kr.china-embassy.org/chn/lsqz/ls_qz/ls_qz_13/t229558.htm
