About:China Transit Visa

Transit Visa for US Citizen

I have an approximate 8 hour layover in Beijing. I am guessing that like the previous answers, I too am restricted to the international flight section of the airport for the entirety of the layover? I'm flying from Korea to Beijing to LA.

Yes, you have to remain at the airport during the 8 hours layover in Beijing, once you leave the airport, you need a China Transit Visa (G visa).

You can try to apply for a 24 hours stay permit by showing your flight tickets itinerary and valid passport when you arrive in Beijing airport. If you get it, you can leave the airport.
