UK citizen, Chinese Visa application in Bangkok

I am UK passport holder, flying to Bangkok and then travelling overland to Hanoi where I fly to Hong Kong.
I understand that I can get the Chinese visa in Hong Kong and wondered if it is possible for me to get this in Bangkok instead? If so, what are the timescales, requirements and costs please?
