You require a single entry tourist visa to China. Please apply visa through Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Kuala Lumpur (Address: 2nd Floor, Plaza OSK, 25 Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur), please prepare the following documents:
1. Your Australian passport
2. one passport photo
3. visa application form V.2011A and V.2011B, the handwritten application forms are not accepted now
4. original and a copy of your permanent residence or work permit which should be valid for at least 6 months and a copy of the passport first page (except for those who are visa or permit exempt for residing or working in the Malaysia).
5. round-trip fight tickets and hotel booking

It takes 4 working days for processing.
