For tourism in China, Pakistani nationals are encouraged to join a tourist group (more than 5 people), which should be arranged through a qualified local travel agency. The travel agency will help you obtain the tourist visas and other required documents. I'm not clear if self-serviced tour to China is allowed or not.
Here is a list of requirements for tourist visas:
1. applicant's passport and photocopies of the first 2 pages of passport and recent Chinese visas if any;
2. fully completed visa application ofrm V2011A and one recent passport photo;
3. If it is your first time to visit China, you should provide your local police character/clearance certificate.
4. applicant's bank statement;
5. For applicants who apply for special tour (self-driving, hiking, cycling, horse-riding, hot air balloon, or other expeditions) to China, they should provide a visa notification form issued by China National Tourism Administration or the one of the related province, autonomous region or municipality.
