Tourist Visa application in Seoul only through travel agencies appointed by Chinese embassy?

I am a Canadian living in Korea who is planning to visit China for a few days. Some sites says that I can get my visa at the consulate, others say I need to get it through a designated agency. Which is true?

Yes, it is true, all visa applications to China in South Korea should be done through travel agencies which appointed by Chinese embassy or consulate. And it requires you with the ARC valid for at least 6 months before expiration.
