About:Shanghai Travel

Visa- first to transit & then tourist

Hi, i am a British citizen & will be travelling to Taiwan via Shanghai in November. I intend to travel to China at the end of February 2026. I won’t be travelling back to the UK after arriving in Taiwan so wondered if you could advise how should I get both the transit and the tourist visa?

So your first arrival will be UK - Shanghai - Taiwan? It is eligible for 24/240-hour visa free transit and no visa will be needed.

The second arrival Taiwan - Shanghai - UK is the same as above. But in this case, you can only stay in Mainland China for no more than 10 days. See details here: https://www.travelchinaguide.com/tour/visa/free-transit-144-hours.htm
