I have an Australian passport, can I apply for a China Z visa in Hong KOng?

Yes, you can apply for China Z visa in Hong Kong, please tell your employer that you want to get Z visa in Hong Kong because the official invitation letter issued by Foreign Affairs Office should be addressed to Commissioner's Office of Foreign Affairs Ministry of PRC in Hong Kong.
