No visa is required if you hold a through ticket and have booked seats on international airliners flying directly through China, and will stay in a transit city for less than 24 hours without leaving the airport. For Taiwan passport holders, your partner will need to provide one of the following travel documents for entry or transit in Mainland China:
1. A valid "Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China".
2. A valid "Permit for Taiwan Residents to and from Mainland China". If the Permit is within the valid period but does not have a valid entry/transit endorsement, he/she shall resubmit the Permit for entry/transit endorsement after arriving in China.
3. Taiwan ID card - Travelers who do not have a valid "Permit for Taiwan Residents to and from Mainland China" shall submit their Taiwan ID card to apply for the "Permit for Taiwan Residents to and from Mainland China".
