How can I visit Hong Kong/Macau on a single entry Z visa?

I'm going to china under work visa(Z). What is the criteria/process to visit Hong kong/Macao, if my visa entry type is single?

Work visa is generally valid for 3 monthes and no duration of stay. Holders should apply for a residence permit from a local county level Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering China. You have to enter Mainland China and get residence permit, then you can go to Hong Kong and Macau. Residence Permit can be used as a multiple entry visa.
