visa free policy in hainan

I like to go to Hainan island. can i get there without a visa ? or must apply a visa in advance ?I hear thaT A US PASSPORT HOLDER HAS THE RIGHT TO GET A VISA AFTER ARRIVING THERE ? IS THAT TRUE ?

If you have valid American Passport, you should join in a tour group to visit Hainan. By this way, you are exempted from visa requirement. Otherwise, you'd better apply for a China visa in advance.
