About:Summer Palace Travel Tips

is there anything recommended or advised by others that should be seen while at The Summer Palace?

Hi Again .

I am planning on getting the subway to BeiGongMen ( North Gate ) - visit The Summer Palace - and then get a boat from the South Gate of The Summer Palace to the pier near the Exhibition Centre / Beijing Zoo.Does this seem ok - or would it be recommended to do this journey in reverse ? I understand that the boat runs in summer from 10am to 4pm ( from pier near the Zoo / Exhibition centre to the Palace ) but am wondering if the boat also runs at a similiar time from the palace to the pier near the zoo / exhibition centre?

Also - I understand that a normal entry ticket can be bought but also a combination ticket ( including entrance fee, Dehe Garden, Wenchang Hall, Tower of Buddhist Incense, Suzhou Street and Danning Hall). Im not too fussed with seeing everything in the park - but is there anything recommended or advised by others that should be seen while at The Summer Palace - or is a normal entry ticket enough. I cant do alot of walking etc ( due to an injury ) so would not want to squeeze absolutely everything in. Would definately like to see more of Kunming Lake on a pleasure boat while im there - but unsure of the other places. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks - Jeff

Yes, similar time. It is okay to begin from Summer Palace. If you do not want to see other places, you can just buy the entrance fee, 30RMB and the through ticket is 60RMB. Then pay for the boat independently to Beijing Zoo and extra fee for the ship in Kunming Lake rented by hour.
