About:Dual Nationality

I was born in Hong Kong but never lived there, I do know I can get my HK ID card and for my children as well. I was told that my husband can't get a HK ID thru me unless he lived there for 7 yrs, is that true? One thing I do know is that his father (born China) had lived in HK for more than 7 yrs, left Hong Kong for more than 30 yrs, and now he's currently living in the USA. Can his father get him a HK ID even thou he wasn't born in HK but had lived more than 7 yrs? If so, please let me know what I can do.

Anybody who born in Hk can get HK ID card, I think you can get the ID card with your birth certificate, But I'm not sure whether your children can get HK Id because of you. For your husband, he can apply for HK ID after stayin gin Hk for at least 7 years. You can contact Registration of Persons Offices by telephone (852) 2598 0888 for exact details.
