I have a french passport and I will be travelling in japan in may. I would like to go to China from there, after  going through Korea. I learned that I cannot get my chinese visa in Korea as I will be on a tourist visa, and I was wondering if it is the same thing in Japan. Can I apply for a visa to China from Japan if I have a tourist visa (visa waiver, less than 30 days).Thank you very much.

You can try to apply for a China visa from Japan if you have a Japan tourist visa. But why don't obtain a China visa in France or the country where you reside?

Thank you for your answer!I already started travelling, I'm in South Korea right now (but the embassy here doesn't deliver visas for China to foreigners on a tourist visa) and I'm not going back to France before august, so as I planned to travel to Japan anyway I thought I could get the chance to apply for the visa to China there! How long does it take and can I apply for sure in Japan? Won't I need a resicence form or anything saying that I'm living in Japan and not only a tourist? Mr.Borzee, my US friend obtained a China tourist visa in May 2010 from embassy in Tokyo, he didn't have a Japan residence form or alien registration card, he just visited Japan for one month, now, I'm not clear about the visa rule in Japan, as I know, China embassy in Seoul stopped to issue China visa to temporary visitors since 2010. China consulate in Busan has stopped to issue China visa to temporary visitors since March 28, 2011. Anyhow, I think you can have a try in Japan. Good Luck!
