About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

I'm an American citizen and was wondering what I can do to stay longer than the 30 days stated on my visa in China.
I'm in Hainan right now and want to stay longer. What can I do? Do I need to leave the country first to Hong Kong for example? What are my option(s)?

Is your visa a single entry L visa? if yes, you can extended it at local PSB before it expires. But if your visa is double/multiple entries, you can leave for HK and reenter China to activate the duration for next 30 days.
