About:China Visa Exemption

I am an Indian citizen with Resident Alien card(Green Card) for stay in USA. I am a full time student of North Carolina State university. I have lived in USA for last 20 yeras. I am selected to study in Beijing at an University with a scholarship this summer for 2 months. Am I exempt for VISA? If yes is there a student VISA with lower fees? Where is the counsulate for applying in person? I need to leave in April and stop by in India for 7 days before I go to China. So I will enter China from India, does that matter?

You need to apply for a visa to China with visa type F. Visa fee is USD 30. You have to submit your visa applicaiton to Chinese embassy or consulate over the area you reside. Check the consular district from https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/united_states.htm If you get a visa in US, it is valid for 3 months in general. It is ok for you to enter China from India. Anyway, since you will stay in India for 7 days, you can also process your China visa in India your home country.
