About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa Requirement for 16-Hour Transit in China

My family is travelling from Pakistan to Australia through China Southern airline. All passengers hold Pakistani passports and have valid Australian visas. They will be transiting through China with a 16-hour layover before continuing to Australia. They will remain in the airport’s international transit area during the layover.

Could you please confirm whether they require a Chinese transit visa to board the flight, or if they are eligible to transit without a visa?

Ehtisham, there is no doubt, your family is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit scheme on this itinerary and they do not need any kind of visa. Since they plan to remain at the airport transit zone, they will not be a subject of immigration or customs inspections. In reality, they will just walk from one to the other gate and between them they will just cross the security check (metal detector and the stuff). All they should do is to find some amusement while in the transit zone of the Chinese airport. I wish to your family a pleasant journey.

One additional detail. Your family members do not have to perform any formalities nor they will fill out online or physical arrival card. They can be totally relaxed and worry free.
