About:Badaling Great Wall

Which would be better to visit instead, Jinshanling or Badaling?

We were scheduled to go to Simatai in April. Which would be better to visit instead, Jinshanling or Badaling, from the point of view of spectacular scenery? Is there any news that Simatia might be open again in mid-April? Mary Walker

I'm afraid the Simatai Great Wall won't be open until 2012.
Badaling is the most develpoed section among all the remained Wall and receives most visitors every year. Jinshanling is not that well-preserved, but original, and dangerous.

I visited Jinshanling last October - it is fantastic!!! Not completely restored but it is cared for. Some of the views are spectacular and I got a lot of shots without any people in them (not always though).

It does have some very steep sections so be prepared. To get it done in the time available requiers a steady pace. You wouldn't fall off but in a few places you need to be careful going up or down the steps, putting your hands down as wekll to steady you.
