Can I meet my friends out of Beijing airport without visa and go back into the airport?

I have a connected flight from sydney to Beijing(transit), stay Beijing for 6 hours, and then fly to London. My question is: If I have checked my luggage through in Sydney, can I go out of the custom and airport in Beijing to meet my friends, and then use the transit boarding pass to go back in again?
