About:China Customs Declaration

Help, I could use advise on this.
I am going to China for a visit this April. I heard that if you bring your iPad or iPhone you will be charged a fee of 1500RMB even though it is for personal use. How true is that? I don't plan to sell it while in CHina, just for my own use.
