There is no doubt, your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. It is important to use correct terminology because it is not 240 hr visa, but 240 hour visa free transit, so there is no visa of any kind at all. It is very important that you have mentioned your layovers immediately before and after your visit to mainland China because under 240 hour visa free transit scheme only the immedita points matter and they have to be in two different countries or eligible territories as it is in your case. You have your immediate points in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Have a nice visit to China.

It was already understood from your first post. This is fine. It is allowed to cross the provincial borders when traveling to China on 240 hour visa free transit. In other words, you are free to proceed with your travel plans with absolute peace of mind.
