About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Hi,

I am currently in Guangzhou and have all of my paperwork so I can apply for a work visa and begin work, but my invitation letter is addressed to the Consulate General of the P.R. China in San Francisco. Is it still possible for me to have my work visa processed in Hong Kong?

Also, do I have to go to Hong Kong myself, or can I have someone submit the paperwork for me even if I don't have an exit stamp from China (meaning I'll still be in China)?

It is impossible for you to have your work visa processed in Hong Kong because the invitation letter is addressed to the Consulate General of the P.R.China in San Francisco.

If the invitation letter is addressed to the Commissioner's Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P.R.China in Hong Kong, you or someone can submit the application for you in Hong Kong even if you don't have an exit stamp from China.
