About:Dual Nationality

I am Australian, my wife is a chinese national. We recently had a baby girl in china (Has a chinese birth certificate). We intend to go for australian citizenship by descent (due to me being australian).

this takes more than a couple of months to progress, in the mean time, do we have to get my baby daughter Chinese Citzenship? was told that the chinese government requires registration of the baby within 30 days of birth? hence the question about registering for chinese status pre the australian citizenship.

once we get her the australian citzenship, as we are living in Beijing (working here), can my daughter get a Chinese residence permit in her Australian passport?

Is there any issues in her travelling outside china (as we will apply for australian citizenship from the embassy in beijing. Do we have to do anything (ie registration or such once she gets the australian citizenship and chinese resident permit?)

Thanks for the advice
Matt

Yes, Chinese government requires registration of the baby within 30 days of birth, but your baby doesn't need to join Chinese nationality, China government doesn't recognize dual nationality, if you want your baby to join Australian nationality, then she can't become Chinese citizenship.

Once you get her the Australian citizenship, you can apply for Chinese residence permit on her Australia passport. You don't need to do something else beside registration, get Australian citizenship and Chinese residence permit.
