About:Chinese Holidays

What is the official number of days for the Chinese New Year this 2011? Our company says its only 3 days. Other companies says its 7 days. Which is true?

The official number 3, but the government has adjusted it into a 7-day holiday by moving the he weekends before and after together with the 3-day holiday.

Thanks Simon for the reply. But for the 7 day holiday does that mean that we have to work for the 4 more days that was added?

No, the 4 more days are the two weekend days before and after the holiday, but you may have to work longer than 5 days during the two weeks before and after the holiday.

Thanks Lee. Our office made an arrangement something like this: 8-9-9.. meaning 8 days straight of work (started last January 24 and will end on the 31st), 9 days straight of no work (holiday) and 9 days straight work again (starting February 10 and ends on Feb 18). I find it quite odd or maybe I just don't understand how they arrange the work and holiday schedules.
