I want to ride Star ferry from Central to Tsim Shai TSui. Do I need to do advance booking? If no, then how much time will it take to buy and board the ferry on weekend evening around 8pm. Also, how much for ticket?

There is no need to pre-book the tickets, since there are many ferries go between them. It takes less than 30 minutes from Central to TST by boat including the time for buying the tickets. The ticket fare is 2.5HKD.
