About:China Embassy in Thailand

Hello,

I'm a US citizen with an L visa in China. I will go to Bangkok on January 8th to apply for a one month F Visa. My internship has provided me an invitation letter. To be safe, what are all of the materials that an American will need in order to obtain this visa? Do US citizens have any difficulties getting F visas in Thailand? In cases of emergency, could I always apply for another L visa as an alternative?

I plan to travel to Chiang Mai as well. I was wondering if I need to remain in Bangkok to pick up my visa after 4 days or could I travel and come back. How quickly do I need to pick up my visa?

Actually, L visa can be extended twice within China from local PSB, have you do that? Except the invitation letter, you'd better prepare a Visa Notice Sheet from an authorized organization in China if you want to apply for an F visa in Thailand. Or, you can try to apply it from Hong Kong. It is ok to pick up your visa on their working day after your travel to Chiang Mai.

Thank you for your response, Alvin. Yes, I have extended my L visa twice already. Can you please inform me on the Visa Notice Sheet? This is the first time I've heard of it. Up to this point, I thought it served as a supplementary document. My employer is also new to this and is convinced that the document is only limited to Chinese organizations. I'm an intern at an international intergovernmental organization that's recognized by the MFA in Beijing.

What kind of organizations can provide this document? Is the visa notice sheet particular to applying for F Visas in Thailand versus Hong Kong? I have travel arrangements for Bangkok. Thank you.

Yes, Chinese embassy in Thailand requires the Visa Notice Sheet from an authorized organization in China for F visa application(maybe not for US passport holder), to be safe, you'd better prepare for it in advance. But if you apply it in HK, the Visa Notice is not compulsory, you can use an letter issued by your employer and the registration license of his company instead. For your case, the Notice Sheet should be issued from Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the city where your intern company locates.

We are having internal issues, and my organization says they can't provide me a visa notice sheet due to their international status. If this org. is considered a diplomatic mission by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC, do you think I will encounter any problems? Have there been exceptions for US passport holders without the visa notice sheet? Also, where can I get a hold of an updated visa application form? Thanks.

You can try to use the invitation letter from the International Intergovernmental Organization to apply for China Business Visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/business.htm) in Bangkok

In fact, it is easy for the international Intergovernmental Organization to get a Visa Notice Sheet for you from Beijing Foreign Affairs Office if it is recognized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing.

On the top of this page, there is link of Visa Application Form for you to download.
