About:Harbin Weather

Hi. I intend to visit Harbin around Dec 19th, I understand weather will be very cold, is it ok to travel with my mom aged 60? Also will we be able to see ice sculptures even though the ice festival hasn't started? (are the ice sculptures at sun island?)

Yes, it is extremly cold. You need to wear as warm as possible. If you want to travel with you mum, you need to bring more warm winter clothes for her. Although the Ice and Snow Festival is not yet opened, you can see ice carvings elsewhere in the city.
The Harbin Ice Festival(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/heilongjiang/harbin/ice_snow.htm) is held at Sun Island.
