Your managing director needs to apply for China Business Visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/business.htm) because Business visa can be issued to applicants who come to China for conference, business or exhibition
The requirements are:
1. A No-objection letter from your company;
2. An invitation from CHINA with a copy of the inviter's license.
3. your passport and its copy
4. one recent passport photo
5. one filled visa application form

From the date of issue, a single-entry business visa is valid for 3 months and double-entry business visa for 6 months
