This thread is very helpful. My friends and I will be traveling to Macau, Hong Kong and possibly Shenzen on January 12-16. We want to inlcude Shenzen in our itinerary for a day tip but I read that we need a visa to shenzen. I was trying to contact the chinese embassy  here in the Philippines but I only get voicemail as answer. :(

Yes, you need visa to enter Shenzhen. Perhaps you should go there yourself?!
