About:Map of China Provinces & Cities

Hi,

I want to go for a back packing trip in China from middle of Jun to end of July 2011.
Will be meeting my girlfriend from Shanghai and travelling start from there. We wish to travel a round in China (if possible). My ideal trip is from Shanghai to travel to Yunnan and from Yunnan back to Shanghai (due to flight's problem). Going to Yunnan as I wish to return to the village which I had done community services at, to visit the children there. Miss them so much.

What are the suggestions and places we should go? We hope to have a fruitful trip but we does not have a high budget, estimated is total for both of us is 15000 rmb. (I know is abit stupid to ask for a good trip and yet cheap, but what I hope to have is a good trip which vaule for the money.)

My plans was to travel on trains and buses for the trip and visit the places while slowly moving towards Yunnan and back to Shanghai.

Please help in giving me some advise and suggestion for the provinces I should visit and the places of attraction too.

You can fly to Kunming from Shanghai, then go to Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-La, further to Lugu Lake (in fact in Sichuan). I recomment this route because of the beautiful natural scenery and I wish I could follow this some day. The problem to going these place should be the transportation. To reduce budget, you should work on the bus information in advance. To hire a van is expensive for long distance tour. I found a travel plan of Kunming tour packages(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/package/kunming.htm) , saying the hightlights of Yunnan including those place I mentioned. You may take it for reference.

Actually the places Mr. James had mentioned, I had went before. Other than Yunnan, which other provinces will be nice for us?
