what is the best route of beijing, shanghaihongkong for 7 days?

I am planning to visit Japan for New Year Eve. It is possible to combine the trip with China? I would like to see at least Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. I have a total of 15 days and for China would be just 7 days. Which is the best route?

In opinion, you fly to HK first and spend 2 days there. Then fly to Shanghai. 2 days are enough to visit Shanghai. While you can use the left 3 days to visit Beijing.
