About:Dual Nationality

Hi I was born in China and recently obtained British Citizenship. Like many Chinese, I still have my Chinese passport and do not want to give it up. My question is how would the embassy find out I am keeping the Chinese passport?
I am planning to go back to China on holiday using my British Passport, but would the Chinese embassy require the return of my Chinese passport? or would they refuse my my visa if I don't do so?
Thanks!

The situation is that they will not require the return of your Chinese passport, but if you came back to China and exit then, you should take the same passport.
