About:China Customs Declaration

Hi and thanks for the nice web site and all the great tips!

I understand I don't need to declare my laptop, digital camera and video camera when they are for personal use. However, I read on the Beijing airport web site that all devices which use Lithium batteries should be taken in the cabin luggage, not in the checked-in luggage! Is there really such a requirement? Thanks!

Not exactly, as I know you should take the lithium batteries with you in your handbag to go through check-in, but can not leave it in your luggage to be consigned. Only two batteries for standby. Do not take so many batteries.

But mine are not standby batteries. 1 is attached to my phone, 1 to my digital camera and 1 to my video camera. If all the batteries are attached to their devices, can I put the cameras in my checked-in luggage? I don't have any batteries not attached to a device.

I mean standby batteries besides the batteries inside your phone, cameras. Yes, no problem for all the batteries attached to their devices. You can put it in you check-in lugguage to take on the airplane.
