About:Best Time to Visit China

We scheduled a Viking River cruise August 25-September 11 starting in Shanghai, then 7 days on the Yangtze before going on North to Beijing. We are very concerned about flooding after hearing aout garbage islands floating on the river and the Three Gorges being closed. Is this true now or old news? Thank you for any information.

It should be the news of late July. I think there is no problem when you get there in late August. July - September is the flood season of the Yangtze River. So, if there is much rain at that time, the Three Gorgores Dam is possible to close. The cruiseship is avaiable.

Mr. Jason, thank you so much for your reply about the river and dam conditions. We look so forward to seeing as much of China as possible.
